When you open "VCD" to load in your files there's a little checkmark "compliant" or something like that. Did you change encoders, or the way that you render? I hope you're not using the Nero encoder, it sucks. My question is, why change to 6 if 5. I used 6 and ended up going back to 5, and will continue until absolutely necessary. I am not sure exactly what you mean about encoding. I have tried with mpg and avi files and let Nero do the stuff necessary to make it a VCD. Is encoding something different?
I switched because version 5. Since I was going to reinstall, I just uninstalled version 5. Maybe a bad move? What vcdforme is asking you is if you encode AND burn your. The built in encoder in Nero does work, but I can see a big difference in video quality if I encode with another program that only encodes, and then let Nero just do the burning.
I am a "newbie" myself, so that is about all that I can add. BTW, as a former Moderator on a large board of a different subject matter, don't get discouraged by a lack of responses. Boards of this nature receive an unreal volume of "help" requests. I can speak from experience that some days the gurus feel more like helping than on other days, but they will help you.
They hang out here because they like helping, sometimes you just have to pick the right day for prompt responses I got an e-mail from Nero support telling me that my problem would be fixed with the new upgrade. I installed the new upgrade released about Dec 3 , and, of course, it made no difference. Very frustrating. I even got another burner and tried burning different disks on that and it would not work. So, apparently it is not the encoding but is something to do with Nero and my DVD player even though it used to be fine before I upgraded to the new version of Nero.
Very frustrating the experience and the poor responses from Nero, I appreciate this board since this the only place I have actually found some help. The most popular version is Nero Express, often included with burners. Sometimes Nero SmartStart application is included which prompts user what to do with bare CD after putting it into drive. DVD Burn. You can read a guide here. Step 1 This is the default window when Nero starts, if it doesn't come up just go to New button in the top left corner. I suggest selecting a low burning speed like 4x 3 for DVD video discs especially if your standalone player is a bit old. Finally click New 4. Step 3 Here you can optionally select the verify 1 the disc after it is burned. It will take more time, but you are sure that you have a correct copy before you delete that DVD files off your hard disk.
Remember what I said about Write speed in step 1 2.
