I tried to replace it but it was quite a challenging thing to do. Eventually, I resorted to the use of Page Class Suffix which until then was unappealing to me. I then added the attached css codes to the bottom of my JA Seleni template's css. If you have JA Seleni or any related template, this might work for you. Reading Joomla's documentation on Page Class Suffix will provide you a guide. The css will work even in IE8. I know that because I had problem with the display on IE8 along the way but successfully resolved it.
